About the role
Enviro Recruitment are working with an Ecological Consultancy based in Greater Manchester who are looking for a candidate who fits their values and vision and will become an invaluable member of the ecology team.
This is an excellent early-career opportunity for an ambitious ecologist looking to build solid foundations in consultancy work. You will support the senior ecology team undertaking Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Protected Species Surveys and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments on a range of sites throughout the UK.
You will work closely with colleagues in the Landscape Architecture and Arboricultural teams to provide high quality advice on projects, and assist in the production of ecological reports for submission with planning applications. Training and mentoring from senior staff will be provided to help you develop your skills and progress your career.
The consultancy works on a variety of projects, from householder applications and large scale residential developments, to renewable energy, commercial schemes and minerals and waste applications.
Job Roles:
• Undertake Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Protected Species Surveys under the supervision of senior ecologists.
• Assist with Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments and provide advice to clients.
• Support the production of high quality ecological reports for submission with planning applications.
• Work closely with colleagues in the Landscape Architecture and Arboricultural teams.
• Maintain accurate field records and contribute to project data management.
• Develop your technical knowledge through on-the-job training and mentoring.
Job Requirements:
• A degree or equivalent in an Environmental Science subject.
• Some demonstrable experience in ecological fieldwork (graduate placements, volunteering or early consultancy experience welcomed).
• A valid UK driving licence and own car — ability to drive long distances for work.
• Ability to stay away from home for short periods (1–2 nights) for work throughout the UK (hotel expenses paid).
• Good knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy.
• Enthusiasm for fieldwork and a willingness to learn.
• Experience with protected species surveys is desirable but not essential.
Salary range £27,000 – £35,000 per annum DOE.
